Athleticism Profile
Triple F's Assessments
Why Do Assessments?
Everything at Triple F begins and continues with assessment. Athleticism is something that is measured using valid and reliable means to ensure that optimal training is provided and real results are achieved. The training structure at Triple F is separated by levels: Free, Foundation, Fit, Fortified, Fast, and Freak. Every youth athlete member is assigned to a training level designed to meet their needs where he or she is currently at. In order to ensure that our athletes are getting the best and most appropriate training, our assessment is scored using normative data for all 9 athletic qualities. We want all of our athletes to become more athletic in each:
Athletic Qualities
- Body Composition: Age, Biological Age, Gender, Weight, Height, and Body Fat % are all essential as a starting point for determining training needs.
- Flexibility: Using the Postural Readiness Evaluation (P.R.E.), an 8-test mobility screening, we are able to determine joint function and movement restrictions occurring at the local level.
- Movement Pattern: Looking at squat and/or sprint mechanics gives us an immediate evaluation of global movement quality.
- Strength: Upper, Lower, and Total body strength measurements are key to address force needs at the peripheral and neuromuscular level. We evaluate strength in reference to body weight and speed of the given load.
- Power: Using force plates and linear positional transducers, we are able to get full context on power output and the need for more force and/or velocity with jumping, pulling, and other major movement patterns.
- Elasticity: The ability to use the ground to your advantage is key to both sport and life. Using contact time, flight time, time to takeoff, braking impulse, propulsive impulse for both bilateral and unilateral plyometric tasks gives us a complete profile for reactive strength/elasticity.
- Agility: Deceleration is often overshadowed by acceleration but not at Triple F. Evaluating both the strategy and ability to brake and transition from one direction to another is crucial.
- Speed: Often referred to as the tide that raises all ships, speed is the ultimate application of nearly every athletic quality. However, unless it is evaluated in parts, it is difficult to prescribe which quality/portion of the sprint is deficient. Running our 40yd Dash assessment is split into 4 segments for profiling: 0-5yd, 5-15yd, 15-30yd, and 30-40yd.
- Aerobic Capacity: Using heart rate (HR) monitor technology while performing a set conditioning protocol allows us to evaluate overall cardiovascular fitness. The key metrics used are: Resting HR, HR Max, HR Recovery, and HR Avg.
Result-Driven
Results truly are the best motivator. With our in-depth reporting system that Rich Burnett made from scratch for Triple F members, everyone involved in the athletes’ journey can clearly see how the athlete is trending in each area.
